Took me long enough!
Some tutorials here, as I said "perhaps tonight I will make a tutorial and put it up" .... like 2 months ago! Sorry to those who had to wait. :)
In this tutorial "ICON-A" we will go from
this
to this ![]()
First, I need to mention that a complete "set" of this tutorial can be downloaded at:
http://www.box.net/public/nz48v05ho
Included in the set is:
» The PSD file of this icon
» The Photoshop-related files (curves, selective colors, etc.)
» Icons and graphics included in the following tutorial
» A text file with the tutorial
You will need to download the above "set" to use the files I will mention in the tutorial - such as icon-a.acv, etc.
Also, this is made for Photoshop CS (other versions may work) -- I don't know if it works for PSP (with the curve files and all.)
Now for the tutorial!
01. Resize/crop. |
|
02. Duplicate base. Set to screen. Do this 3 times. (This may need to be adjusted in the end, depending on the image.) |
|
03. Select the top layer. Go to LAYER > NEW ADJUSTMENT LAYER > CURVES... 04. Click OK. Then LOAD the file "icon-a.acv" -- Click OK. |
|
05. LAYER > NEW ADJUSTMENT LAYER > LEVELS. Click OK and then LOAD "icon-a.alv" -- Click OK. |
|
06. New layer, fill with #BFBFBF -- Set to Color Burn at 100%. |
|
07. New layer, fill with #322C74 -- Set to Screen at 100%. |
|
08. New layer, fill with #000324 -- Set to Exclusion at 80%. |
|
09. New layer, fill with #DE7A84 -- Set to Color Burn at 100%. |
|
10. New layer, fill with #97D8FF -- Set to Color Burn at 100%. |
|
11. New layer, fill with #04005E -- Set to Overlay at 80%. |
|
12. New layer, fill with #0E005F -- Set to Lighten at 80%. |
|
13. New layer, set to Lighten at 50%. Choose the size 65 round, soft brush (color: white). Give one click to the middle of the icon. Move this layer around so it works well with your icon. Alternative to this step: insert 010screen100.jpg (image to the left) and set to screen. |
|
And that's it! You may need to go back to the base (and its' duplicates) and alter it a bit - sometimes Soft Light works better than Screen. It depends, as I said, on the image being used. |
Crediting is always appreciated, but it's not required. And commenting is much love. ♥
